State Fines New London Nursing Home: Report

The incidents in question occurred in December 2016.

NEW LONDON, CT — The Beechwood nursing home in New London was recently fined by the state for lapes in patient care on two separate occasions in December 2016, reports Connecticut Health I-Team.

In one case, nursing home staff incorrectly gave a patient a blood thinning medication to which the patient is allergic, and in the other case a dementia patient packed clothes and was able to leave the facility in a wheelchair before they were found across the street.

Beechwood was fined $1,840, and the facility's director did not issue a comment on either matter.
