NEW LONDON, CT — The Williams School is now offering students opportunities to earn college credits and Interdisciplinary Certificates through a pair of new programs. The New London-based Independent College Preparatory Day School is announcing the launch of a pair of new programs aiming to put students in optimal positions for admission to their colleges of choice.
College Acceleration Program — through its partnership with neighboring Connecticut College — offers students in grades 11-12 a full semester of college courses and credits. Over the course of their junior and senior years, students will take courses at Williams, plus one course per semester at Connecticut College. By graduation, students successfully completing the program will have a college preparatory high school diploma as well as a college transcript with credits from four courses.

Interdisciplinary Certificate Programs offer students in grades 10-12 the opportunity to earn a certificate alongside their diploma in a focused subject area — engineering, environmental sustainability, global perspectives, and humanities and the arts. Students will participate in five courses within each certificate program — in addition to prerequisites and graduation requirements — and complete a digital portfolio of their work that will include a research and professional exploration component.
“We are thrilled to launch these two new programs that will allow students to take courses at the college level and/or seek a specialized course of study based on their scholarship interests and goals,” said Head of School Mark Fader. “The Williams School has an excellent reputation for providing students with opportunities to engage with strong and inspiring educators, build a growth mindset, and elevate their college preparation and matriculation. The current Upper School program provides college prep, honors, and advanced level courses to meet the needs of individual students with varied learning styles, abilities, and goals. The launch of our two new programs will help Williams students take their learning to an even higher level.”
