NEW LONDON, CT — The Ledge Light Health District has lifted swimming advisories for all bating areas it monitors. Previously, swimming advisories had been in effect Monday due to elevated bacterial counts.

However, resampling of bathing water Wednesday found results were within acceptable limits. By Thursday, advisories were lifted at all beaches.

For the full list of affected swimming areas, check out the statement from Ledge Light Health District below.

The district noted that rain or other contamination events occurring before the Monday sampling may have contributed to elevated bacterial counts. Areas with stormwater runoff or low water turnover like inland bathing areas are particularly vulnerable to increased bacterial counts following rainfall.
