NEW LONDON, CT — A swimming advisory has been posted at a New London beach, according to Ledge Light Health District. The advisory was posted at Green Harbor Beach after elevated bacterial levels were found in bathing water.

The sampling was conducted Monday. The district will resample the water at the bathing area Wednesday.

The district noted that "rain or other contamination events occurring before a sampling may contribute to elevated bacterial counts. Areas with stormwater runoff (storm drainpipes or extensive impervious surfaces) or low water turnover (inland bathing areas) are particularly vulnerable to increased bacterial counts following rainfall."
