NEW LONDON, CT — Green Harbor Beach in New London had elevated bacteria results and a swimming advisory was posted Tuesday. However, resampling Wednesday showed the bacteria levels were within acceptable limits, and the swimming advisory was lifted, according to the Ledge Light Health District.

No swimming advisories or closures are currently in effect for any of the health district's monitored beaches.

The health district wrote: "Please be aware that rain or other contamination events occurring before the Monday morning sampling may have contributed to elevated bacterial counts, especially in areas subject to storm water runoff (storm drainpipes or extensive impervious surfaces) or low water turnover (inland bathing areas). These areas are particularly vulnerable to increased bacterial counts following rainfall. We recommend those individuals responsible for the bathing areas take these events into consideration."
