Tailoring Rapid Re-Housing for Serving Single Adults

The New London Homeless Hospitality Center

Webinar: Tailoring Rapid Re-Housing for Serving Single Adults
On June 24th, the National Alliance to End Homelessness hosted a webinar on Rapid Re-Housing for single adults featuring three providers who shared their successes and challenges with participants. We are proud to say that one of the three providers chosen to present for this national webinar was Connecticut’s own:

  1. Create expectations from the first interaction with a client; talk about housing from the beginning.
  2. Put all housing options on the table, including shared housing, boarding, living with relatives.
  3. Have shelter rules that encourage housing, such as mandating savings program.
  4. Make sure to have the right resources available, i.e. documents, clothing, financial assistance, etc.

Jean-Michel Giraud, another presenter and a provider from Washington, D.C., shared: “This is a very exciting time...having Coordinated Access Networks and using the VI-SPDAT is a great way to prioritize and has been a huge improvement” in his work in Rapid Re-Housing with individuals.
