NEW LONDON, CT — Police have identified the victim in a shooting Tuesday evening in New London. Avery Rivera, 20, of Ledyard, was killed in the incident.

Police responded to a call at 6:18 p.m. reporting gunshots fired and a possible gunshot wound victim at 22 Moore Ave.

A man, later identified as Rivera, had suffered gunshot wounds to his torso area. Officers at the scene of the crime provided medical aid.

Rivera was then taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. He was later declared dead.

The investigation remains active.
