Waterford Driver Hit Stop Sticks, Attempted To Flee, State Police Say
A man was arrested after police were pursuing a car in New London on Tuesday night.
NEW LONDON, CT — A Waterford man was arrested following an incident in New London, according to state police.
State troopers were notified Tuesday around 9 p.m. of a black Ford Fusion "occupied by a violent felon that engaged (the) New London Police Department in a pursuit stemming from a firearm related incident," state police said in a statement.
Troopers found the Ford passing the Troop E barracks on I-395 northbound. They followed the car and later used stop sticks to disable the vehicle.

Troopers then tried to stop the Ford, which attempted to flee. However, due to the car's poor working condition, the driver pulled into the right shoulder.
Police detained everyone who was in the car.

The driver, Clayton Cyr, 23, of Waterford, was charged with speeding over 70 mph, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and failure to drive in proper lane.
He was held on $50,000 cash or surety bond and scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Wednesday.
