Woman Charged With DUI After Crash Into New London Building: Police

She fled from the crash, entered a nearby house, and was charged with burglary, police said. The accident displaced three families.

NEW LONDON, CT — A woman was charged with driving under the influence after she crashed her car into an apartment building and fled to a nearby house, according to police.

Police responded at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a rollover accident on Anthony Road.

A Honda Accord had crashed into an apartment building. The driver had left the car after the crash and ran across the street into a house. The driver "entered and occupied an unfamiliar home after fleeing the scene of the accident," police said.

Police later found and identified the driver as Megan Perry, 35, of North Providence, Rhode Island. She was arrested and taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Three families were displaced by the accident. The American Red Cross is providing assistance.

Perry was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right, evading responsibility, risk of injury to a minor, operating without insurance, and first-degree burglary.

Her bond was set at $50,000 and she was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
