Woman Dies In New London Crash; ID Released
A vehicle struck a light pole in a downtown New London plaza over the weekend, police said.

NEW LONDON, CT -- Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash in New London.
Police responded to State Street and Bank Street at 12:37 a.m. Sunday on a report of a vehicle striking a light pole at Parade Plaza.
Officers found a heavily damaged vehicle with an injured woman behind the wheel.

Firefighters had to remove the woman from the car. She was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, where she was declared dead.
The driver was identified as Joslyn Wakefield, 41, with no known address.

An investigation into the crash remains active.
