Woman Settles with New London for More than $800,000 in Police Cruiser Accident Case

The settlement comes nearly two years after the Ledyard victim was initially rear-ended by a New London police cruiser.

NEW LONDON, CT - A Ledyard woman who was injured in a New London police cruiser crash has settled with the city for more than $800,000, as reported by Fox 61.

The city has agreed to pay Lisa Cantler $880,000, an amount that was agreed upon earlier this month before the case went to trial, according to Fox 61. The settlement comes nearly two years after the victim was initially rear-ended by a police cruiser in March 2014.

Court officials said Cantler suffered permanent spinal damage as a result of the incident, Fox 61 reported. She underwent vertebrae fusion surgery twice following the accident, and has missed months of work as a result.
