Police Want To Interview This Man In Connection To Fatal Shooting
A young man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in New London. Police are asking the public for assistance.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police on Sunday said that they want to interview Jamir Johnson, 18, of New London in connection to Saturday's fatal shooting involving a "young man." Police stressed that "at this time" they only want to interview Johnson.
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon on Orchard Street, police said. The victim in the shooting has not been identified as of yet. Police have only said that the victim is a "young man." At 3:13 p.m. Saturday, police responded to 4 Orchard St. for a gunshot victim, police said. The gunshot victim was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene.
"NLPD detectives are currently looking to interview Jamir Johnson, DOB 6/24/1999, with regards to the incident," New London Police said in a news release. "Detectives only seek to interview Jamir Johnson at this time."

NEW LONDON, CT — New London police are investigating a homicide that occurred at 4 Orchard Street Saturday. The victim was shot in the head and died as a result of his injuries, police said. Police are investigating.
At 3:13 p.m. police received a 911 call from 111 Montauk Ave. reporting a shooting at 4 Orchard St., police said. Police and fire personnel responded and found a young male with a gun shot wound to the head inside the basement apartment of 4 Orchard St., police said.
The male was pronounced deceased by medics on scene. The scene was secured and a canvass of the area was initiated. New London police detectives along with the Connecticut State Police-Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London States Attorney’s office responded to investigate the incident.
The investigation remains active, police said. The identity of the deceased male is pending, police said.
