New Milford, CT — Bike and Build, a national service organization, spent a day at the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity’s construction at 18 Greenfield Court in New Milford. They were on hand to help with build activities on Friday, June 3rd. Housatonic Habitat for Humanity Brush with Kindness Project Executive, Kent Rohrer of Ridgefield, coordinated the activities.
The crew cleaned up around the home and moved tons of dirt to fill in a retaining wall. Crew members Noel Schneemann of New Milford, Mary Flanagan of New Milford and Marina Cotarelo of North Salem, NY, also performed community service hours at the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity location. All Bike and Build cyclists must perform community service hours prior to qualifying for the trip. The group was hosted locally by United Methodist Church of Danbury, CT.
Bike and Build is a national service organization who for the last 13 years has engaged 3,000 young adults in community service activities to highlight the national need for affordable housing. Each summer cyclists pedal over 1 million cumulative miles from coast to coast. The New Milford Bike and Build team plans to spend the next 10 weeks combining their passion of cycling with their support of the affordable housing cause.
