The Judy Black Memorial Park & Gardens / Seasonal Farmers Market

<a href="https://judyblackpark.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens</a> welcomes John Casey and <a href="https://nancylasar.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Nancy Lasar </a>for their joint exhibition, “Taking Up Space,” on view at the park beginning Friday, Sept. 25. This show brings together Lasar’s dynamic works in drawing, painting, printmaking and collage with Casey’s inventive rust-patinated metal sculptures, exploring how art inhabits, transforms and converses with the spaces around it.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
This show will remain on view until Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026. Cancelled Due to Weather. See you in 2027! Riverwalk Pavilion, Washington, CT The Washington Lions Club hosts its 19th annual Car-B-Que car show, featuring great food, music, and cars - including the Monkeemobile, the modified Pontiac GTO that carried the made-for-TV rock band the Monkees in their 1960s television show.
Cars begin arriving on the field at 9:30 a.m.; judging begins at 11 a.m. Admission for show cars is $15.00; public admission is by donation.
Along with classic "best" categories (engine, interior, chrome, and more), there are also special categories such as most likely to be stolen, most likely to get pulled over, and more.
Last year, more than 125 show cars took part, and our food, trophies, music, and raffle items were enjoyed by all!
Where the proceeds go
The event benefits the Washington Ambulance Corp, the Shepaug High School Scholarship Fund, and other Lions Club charities. Last year, proceeds helped provide free vision screening for school children in area towns through the KidsSight program.

Spend the day at the river — and stay for the fireworks!
RiverFest returns to Young’s Field on Saturday, October 3, bringing friends, families and neighbors together for a full day of music, food, activities and fun along the banks of the Housatonic River.
And this year, RiverFest has a spectacular new finale. As evening arrives, River Lights will illuminate the riverfront at 6:30 pm, followed by fireworks at dark.
Admission is FREE.

The Housatonic River Commission invites our neighbors along the Housatonic River to an open house on Sunday, October 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will be held at the Day Use Area of Housatonic Meadows State Park.&nbsp;Come meet the commissioners who represent your town, learn more about the Housatonic River Commission, and find out what the river’s Wild &amp; Scenic designation means for communities along the Housatonic. The event will include an open question-and-answer session at 2 p.m.

The Housatonic River Commission works with riverside communities to help protect and enhance the river's values while supporting public understanding of the river and its designation.&nbsp;The Commission comprises representatives from seven towns along the Housatonic: Kent, Cornwall, Canaan, North Canaan, Salisbury, New Milford, and Sharon.
The October 4 event is designed to be casual and welcoming. Residents can stop by, meet their commissioners, ask questions, and learn more about our river.
