Curated tag sale and appraisal fair

tag sale, antiques, art, evaluations, unique items

“This is not your typical tag sale,” according to Eileen P. Monaghan, Merryall Center for the Arts co-president.

After a successful first year, we’ve expanded our curated tag sale, which is combined with an art/antiques appraisal fair.

You can select and buy from a wide variety of great tag sale items Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items have been carefully selected to reflect style and taste ... no kitchen gadgets or clothing (although last year we did have a mink coat!).

Within the tag sale, you will be able to learn what that unusual item that you inherited from your aunt is worth. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can find out at our version of the famous PBS show. Experts will provide informal evaluations of art and antiques.

The tag sale, obviously, is free. For the appraisals, there is a charge of $15 for the first item and $10 for each additional item.

You can choose to donate items or put them on consignment. Proceeds from the consigned item will be split between you (60 percent) and Merryall (40 percent). Items will be accepted on Friday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 7 p.m. or by appointment (email info@MerryallCenter.org to arrange an appointment). Arrangements can be made to pick up large items. Donated items will be half price between 4 and 5 p.m. You are responsible to remove consignment items that do not sell; a donation tax form will be provided.

The Merryall Center for the Arts, at 8 Chapel Hill Road, New Milford, is a non-profit organization that has been bringing entertainment, enrichment and enlightenment to the Litchfield Hills since 1951. It receives support from the New Milford Commission on the Arts and the Connecticut Community Foundation.

You can pre-register for the appraisals at www.MerryallCenter.org or bring items to the door.
