New Milford Budget Referendum Results
Both school and town budget must pass for the overall budget to be approved.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Voters approved the town budget, but rejected the proposed school spending plan in a referendum Tuesday, the News Times has reported. The overall $101.5 million budget will head back to the Town Council for the second time after voters once again rejected the school budget, but approved the town spending plan.
Voters approved the town’s $38.1 million plan, 1,763 to 1,616. The $63.3 million school budget lost by 1,710 to 1,674.
Tuesday night's referendum was made necessary following residents' rejection of the overall budget in May. The school budget was the same as proposed in the previous referendum, but $102,000 was shaved off the town budget, which still left a budget about $100,000 richer than the current fiscal year's budget.
