New Milford Coffee Shop To Close After 20+ Years
Bank Street Coffee House hopes to reopen in a new location.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Bank Street Coffee House, a popular hangout in New Milford for more than 20 years, will close on Oct. 28 to make room for a new business, the coffee shop announced on its Facebook page.
The owners of the shop were asked by the building's to vacate by Nov. 1, so they are closing on Saturday and auctioning off assets on Oct. 30.
"We would like to let you know that we will proceed with the closing on October 28 and an auction to disperse the assets on October 30, in time for our landlords deadline," wrote owner Bev Monthie on Facebook.

"BUT we are still interested to start fresh if we can.
"Bank Street was unique in that it was a community coffee shop where people had warm memories about their experiences. We take pride in that. We enjoyed being creative - shop made marshmallow's, bagels, specialty deserts, etc. We enjoyed the company and the friendships we made."

New Milford Mayor David Gronbach and representatives of the building's landlord, R and B Family Property, met with Monthie in an effort to save the coffee shop, but a new location has not yet been found, reports the News-Times.
