New Milford Plots to Overcome Budget Shortfall
The town is working through the loss of $2.2 million in state revenues.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Town officials have announced they have done the math and will be able to offset the monies they had budgeted for state revenue that are no longer available. The state informed the town last month they would be awarding $2.2 million less than budgeted.
New Milford will draw upon reserves, delay purchases and maintenance, and leave some vacated personnel positions unfilled or fill them less expensively than budgeted.
Six layoffs, including the assistant police chief, assistant director of parks and recreation, the project manager in public works, the assistant tax assessor and a worker in the tax collector’s office were announced in February.
