New Milford Student Saves Girl from Choking
The student performed the Heimlich maneuver and averted what might have been a catastrophe.

NEW MILFORD, CT — A junior at the Canterbury School in New Milford may have saved the life of a classmate on Thursday, the News Times is reporting.
Callum Brown gave his classmate a Hershey's kiss chocolate, and then sprang into action when he saw she was choking on the candy. He performed the Heimlich maneuver on the girl and was able to successfully dislodge the kiss.
The first aid procedure is an abdominal thrust move used to treat upper airway obstructions by foreign objects. The term was named after Dr. Henry Heimlich, who first described it in 1974.
