Residents to Hold Rally for Library Upgrade
Authorization for the town to spend $6.5 million dollar on the project will be on the ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Election Day.
NEW MILFORD, CT — Residents backing the New Milford Library modernization project will be holding a rally on the Green this Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Authorization for the town to spend $6.5 million dollar on the project will be on the ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Election Day. The town has already committed $1 million, and is applying for another $1 million state grant, to complete the $6.5 million upgrade.
Two previous library renovation projects, in 2003 and 2008, failed to garner enough support. The price tag of the 2008 plan was $21 million.

The new design, aleady approved by the town council, would see the library expand from 15,000 to 22,000 square feet, add more meeting space, and remodel the facade to better fit in with the current downtown architecture. The library will also be made compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
