Stop & Shop's Food For Friends Program Provides Needed Assistance to the New Milford Food Bank

Stop & Shop presents $4,000 Food For Friends Check to New Milford Food Bank

Stop & Shop presented the New Milford Food Bank with a check for $4,000. Stop & Shop raised the donation through their long-running annual “Food for Friends” program, which enables customers to donate $1, $3, or $5 at the register to directly support more than 300 local hunger relief organizations across Connecticut and the Northeast.

Stop & Shop’s New Milford customers contributed the most money of any store in the region. The initiative raises about $1 million each year to feed needy families, and has raised more than $247,000 in Connecticut alone.

Stop & Shop matches a portion of the funds raised by each store as part of the company’s commitment to supporting hunger-relief efforts. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the “Food for Friends” program go directly to regional food banks, including Foodshare and the Connecticut Food Bank.
