Classes Canceled Thursday For Newtown Public Schools: UPDATE

NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown Public Schools are closed Thursday, due to inclement weather that swept through Connecticut overnight, district officials announced.

The storm started as rain, and the district initially planned a two-hour delay. But then road conditions turned icy, and officials changed course.

"For Thursday, January 20, 2022 All Newtown Public Schools will be closed," officials wrote on the district's website. "Central office and staff offices will open at 10:30 am."
