• Driver Accused Of DUI, Driving Without License In Newtown: Police (patch.com) — Newtown police arrested a 41-year-old man after reports of an erratic driver on South Main Street near Park Lane, alleging he was under the influence and driving without a license. Officers say he faces multiple motor vehicle charges and was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond, with a court appearance set for May 26 in Danbury Superior Court.    

• Stratford Crier1st Annual Newtown Community Running Event (stratfordcrier.com) — Newtown runners and walkers can now register for the town’s first-ever half marathon and community running event at Fairfield Hills on Sunday, August 30, benefiting the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association in honor of EMT Greg Ritzinger. With multiple race distances, kids’ run, local vendors, and sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, organizers hope to turn it into a major community celebration.
