Ana Grace Project Donates Funds to Avon School

Ana Grace was killed in the Sandy Hook School shooting in 2012.

A fundraiser for the Ana Grace Project raised over $8,000 last month.

The money raised from the Dance for Ana with Love fundraiser in Enfield will be donated to the CREC Foundation. The CREC foundation accepted the donation on behalf of the CREC Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary School in Avon.

The $8,100 donation will be used to purchase musical instruments and equipment for the school, such as violins, dance shoes, and music stands.

The daughter of Jimmy Greene and Nelba Márquez-Greene, Ana Grace was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting on Dec. 14, 2012. The Ana Grace Project was established in memory of Ana Grace Marquez-Greene—the elementary school’s namesake.

According to CREC, Ana Grace is an alumni of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and former CREC teachers.

“The next best thing to having Ana here with us is knowing that we are promoting love, community, and connection in her name,” Nelba Marquez-Greene said in a statement. “We are so thrilled to partner with CREC and pray to make this an annual event alongside the Dance for Ana with Love crew.”
