July 4th Fireworks, Events Near Newtown 2026

Here's where Newtown residents can find fireworks displays and Independence Day celebrations this year.

NEWTOWN, CT — While Newtown does not have a major town-sponsored Independence Day display planned this year, residents won't have to travel far to find Fourth of July celebrations.

Several nearby communities will host fireworks, live entertainment and family-friendly events as part of America's 250th anniversary celebration.

Ridgefield Family Fireworks Celebration

One of the closest options for Newtown residents is Ridgefield's annual Family Fireworks Celebration.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at Ridgefield High School, 700 North Salem Road. Gates open at 6 p.m., with fireworks beginning at dusk. Food trucks and family-friendly activities are also planned. The rain date is July 5.

Danbury Fireworks Celebration

Danbury's annual fireworks show is scheduled for June 27 at Candlewood Town Park, 36 Hayestown Road.

The free event runs from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will include live music by Junk from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., concessions and a fireworks display at dusk.

The rain date is June 28.

Brookfield Fireworks

Brookfield's fireworks display is scheduled for June 26 at Brookfield Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road.

Fireworks are expected to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. as part of the town's America 250 celebration.

Wilton July 4 Celebration

Wilton will mark Independence Day with its first July 4 parade, community celebrations and an evening fireworks display.

Fireworks are expected to begin at dusk at the Wilton High School Sports Complex, 395 Danbury Road, following a day of festivities honoring America's 250th birthday.

Weston Fireworks Celebration

Weston's annual "3rd of July" celebration returns July 3 to Weston Middle School Field, 135 School Road. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the event will feature live music, food trucks and family-friendly activities before a fireworks display at dusk. Admission is $5 for walk-ins and $20 per vehicle.
