Bethel Artist Exhibits Work of Newtown Horse Guard
Ival Stratford- Kovner will have her work displayed at the Bethel Public Library through Jan. 5.

Ival Stratford- Kovner’s large-scale drawings of the Newtown Horse Guard will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Bethel Public Library from Dec. 1 - Jan 5, 2015.
The “Horse Drawn” exhibition originally was shown at Blue Mountain Gallery in Chelsea, in New York City. It was later displayed at the Newtown Municipal Center between April - May 2012. The drawing “Swim” has remained in the Newtown Town Clerk’s office in Newtown since Spring 2012 at the request of Newtown staff. Kovner said, “The drawing conveys a sense of unity.”
Ms. Kovner earned an undergraduate degree in painting from Boston University and a Masters and MFA from WestConn in January 2002.
Kovner, a Bethel artist, attended Bethel schools and Immaculate High School in Danbury. She won her first art award at Bethel Public Library at age eleven.
Kovner said, “The artwork represents service as both trooper and elected historian for the horse guard.”
