— I'd like to say the sophisticated wine list, attentive service and creative menu draw me back to Bethel's La Zingara. But that would be a lie. Although all those things are true, it's the decadent bittersweet chocolate fondue that I can't shake from my memory of my many visits to this establishment.
This dessert is meant for two and arrives at the table with skewers of hot fried dough and fresh berries just waiting to be bathed in the silky chocolate. The house-made desserts here are not an afterthought, so linger with a cup of strong coffee and enjoy.
Of course, pasta and a variety of other dishes are served as well. The rigatoni with crumbled sausage and sweet green peas is a favorite of mine. The specials are often tantalizing, as are the menu entrees, such as encrusted veal T-bone with a dried cherry veal glace and served with braised Vidalia and fresh fennel.
