St. Rose School was placed on a Lock-In Closed status on Friday after receiving a threatening call.

St. Rose School in Newtown received a threatening phone call today, causing the school to be placed in lockdown. This is the second school lock-in for Newtown in one week, and a third in a week in the area.
On Tuesday, Newtown High School was placed on lock-in due to a social media threat.

On Wednesday, Bethel High School was placed on lock-in due to a social media threat by a student against another student and the school. The minor in that case was arrested.

Announcement from Dr. Erardi:
All students and staff throughout the district are safe. Earlier this afternoon St. Rose School received a threatening call. That school was placed on a Lock-In Closed status. Newtown Middle School and the Hawley School have been placed on Lock-In – Open status because of their proximity to St. Rose. No threat was received at the Middle or Hawley schools. School dismissal will occur at the regular time. Dr. Erardi will have a follow-up announcement within the next hour or so.
