Butterfly Party Raises Money for Newtown Animal Sanctuary
Over $80,000 was raised for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, which should be completed by 2016.
The second annual Butterfly Party raised over $80,000 for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, reports the News-Times.
A total of $84,000, including a $50,000 grant donated by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, was raised at the creature-themed gathering.
The animal sanctuary, which should be completed by 2016, will be created in memory of Catherine Violet Hubbard, who was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting in December of 2012.

The sanctuary will cover 34+ acres and will provide adoptive services for companion animals, refuge for farm animals, and native wildlife rescue and release services.
Hubbard, who was six at the time of her death, loved animals.
