Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

I’m so proud of my children James and Margaret, and adore my granddaughter Charlotte. My wife Betsy gave me 2 more wonderful children and 5 amazing grandchildren.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I’ve been appointed to serve on the Board of Assessment Appeals twice.

Why are you seeking this office?

I want to serve my town, and to help people get the correct assessment of their real and personal property.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it.

It’s getting harder for people to afford to live in Newtown, especially as they grow older. I will do everything in my power to make sure no one is being unfairly and incorrectly assessed and taxed.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Our town government needs to focus on Newtown, rather than being distracted by national political obsessions and issues that aren’t relevant to our community.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I’ve served on the BAA twice before and have helped many Newtowners correct their assessments.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

My dad always said “keep everything in balance”.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I would be honored to serve Newtown and Newtowners on the Board of Assessment Appeals.
