Deadline Set For Newtown Non-Profit To Purchase Land
A local nonprofit group has been given a deadline to raise enough money to buy 30 acres of land off the development market.

NEWTOWN, CT — A local nonprofit group has been given a deadline of Jan. 15 to buy 30 acres of farmland off the development market, as reported by the News-Times. Up until November, the land had been in the same family's hands for generations.
The Newtown Forest Association must raise $600,000 in order to purchase the Cherry Grove Farm property, according to the News-Times. The group has already raised $275,000 in donations toward the purchase.
Members of the association find the land to be significant both from a nostalgic standpoint and a historical one, the News-Times reported. Should they raise enough money in time, the group currently plans to use the land for recreational activities such as nature walks.
