The fourth annual Free Dental Clinic returns on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022, at Diamond Dental Clinic in Newtown. The event is sponsored by Diamond Dental, the Newtown Lions Club, and the Monroe Lions Club. Scheduled on Veterans Day to honor those who have served, free appointments are offered to any adults and children without dental insurance or adequate resources for basic care, including seniors on straight Medicare.

Appointments are both required and limited. Prospective patients should call (203) 913-1316 beginning Monday, October 3. The phone line will be open Monday-Friday 9 am – 6 pm through November 9. Even if all appointments have been scheduled, patients will be waitlisted for possible cancellations.

Each 30-minute basic care appointment will include cleaning, dental exam, x-rays, fluoride treatment, and minor fillings and extractions as time permits. Diamond Dental Clinic owner Dr. Ratna Vedullapalli (“Dr. V”), DDS, especially urges patients who have delayed basic preventive dental care due to cost and pandemic conditions to call. Routine dental care is essential to maintain healthy teeth and gums and avoid decay. When problems are caught early, they can be treated before they lead to more expensive treatment, and before they begin to affect a person’s overall health.

Although the November 11 free dental day is limited to basic care, the Diamond Dental staff will work to find affordable care plans for patients whose exams reveal a need for more extensive treatment.

“Dr. V” has a long history of dental outreach in her native India as well as in the United States through programs such as CT Mission of Mercy. Her colleague Dr. Kelvin Wang, DDS, will join her in providing free care on November 11, as will many of the Diamond Dental Clinic staff.
