Labor Force Shows Slight Growth in Newtown

The latest job numbers show that Newtown saw a slight increase in the number of unemployed residents, but also an increase in the number of residents in the labor force, according to the Connecticut Department of Labor. 

Newtown's rate jumped to 6.2 percent from 5.7 percent the month before. In total, the town has 930 unemployed people. The total labor force grew to 14,968 from 14,809.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is 8.1 percent and the national rate is 8.2 percent.
