Father/Stepfather Custody Battle Ends

A Newtown father and a Fairfield stepfather worked out a custody battle before the holidays.

A custody battle between a Newtown father and a Fairfield stepfather ended amicably days before Thanksgiving.

A 17-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy were living with their mother and stepfather in Fairfield when the mother died after a battle with breast cancer, according to the News-Times.

The biological father repeatedly made efforts to see and communicate with his children, but the stepfather blocked his telephone number and got police involved, according to a lawsuit.

The parties appeared in court Monday and the children agreed to have dinner with their father at least once a week. A visitation schedule will also be worked on, according to the News-Times. The children wanted to remain with their stepfather.
