Former Newtown Oil Co. Proprietor Charged with Violation of Probation

William Trudeau was served with a warrant recently in relation to the oil fraud case.

Former Newtown Oil Co. proprietor William Trudeau Jr., 44, was charged with an outstanding warrant for violation of probation on Jan. 22.

Trudaeu was being moved from Devens FMC Federal Prison to Danbury Superior Court where Newtown Police served the outstanding arrest warrant. Charges were based on a 2007 investigation.

Trudeau Jr., 44, was involved in an oil fraud case. He was convicted in 2008 on nine felony counts for taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in oil deposits, but not delivering the oil. He was put on probation for that case.

Subsequently he was found guilty in 2012 of conspiracy to commit bank, mail and wire fraud in relation to a mortgage fraud case.
