Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Date Set for Newtown

Bring your car waxes, fluorescent bulbs, insecticides, oven cleaners, chemistry sets, flea powder, moth balls, engine degreasers...

NEWTOWN, CT — Area residents can drop off hazardous waste at Brookfield High School on Saturday.

The Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority is hosting a “Household Hazardous Waste” event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road in Brookfield.

Residents from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown and Ridgefield can drop off hazardous items such as camera batteries, moth balls, paints, septic tan degreasers and more. (See below for a more complete list.)

If you are from one of the six towns above, you do not need to register. If you are from Bridgewater, Kent, New Milford, Redding or Sherman you must pre-register to attend the July 28 event, by calling HRRA at 203-775-4539 or emailing info@hrra.org.
