Impaired Man Drove Through Serious Crash Scene: Newtown Police

Police say the man drove through the scene of the serious crash on Rte. 25 last week with a loaded gun in his car.

NEWTOWN, CT — While officers were investigating the serious crash on Rte. 25 last week, a local man was arrested for allegedly ignoring detour signs and driving through the crash scene while intoxicated.

Police say that a pickup truck driven by Michael Thomas Brown, 55, failed to follow detour signs and drove through the South Main Street accident scene at around 9:41 p.m. on March 21. Brown told investigators he was in possession of a loaded gun during the investigation, according to police.

Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

Officers were on scene investigating after a stolen car caused a serious crash on Rte. 25 leading to serious injuries to the driver of the stolen car. The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries, but officials were on scene for several hours to investigate the crash.

Brown was charged with driving under the influence and illegally carrying of a firearm while under the influence. He was released on a $100 case bond and is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 4.
