Lady Gaga's Foundation Raises Awareness for Sandy Hook Nonprofit
"This January it's an honor to shine light on an organization that gives us hope that we can choose love, even during the darkest days."

NEWTOWN, CT — The foundation of one of the country's biggest popular music stars has recognized a nonprofit founded after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
The Born This Way Foundation, established by popular music icon Lady Gaga, raised awareness for the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement. The six-year-old Lewis was one of the 20 students and six educators killed during the events of Dec. 14, 2012.
"This January it’s an honor to shine light on an organization that gives us hope that we can choose love, even during the darkest days," wrote the post on the foundation's Born Brave Blog.

He will also be remembered for bravery far beyond his years. Jesse yelled for his classmates to run during the shooting as the gunman’s weapon jammed. Six of his peers escaped thanks to his leadership.
The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation works with professional educators to develop school-based education programs to change the culture of violence.
