Lawyer: Sandy Hook Truther Exercised Rights at Vicki Soto 5K

Matthew Mills is seeking accelerated rehabilitation for his case.

The lawyer for Sandy Hook truther Matthew Mills said his client was exercising his constitutional rights at the race dedicated to shooting victim Vicki Soto.

Mills, 32, of Brooklyn, N.Y. was arrested after he approached Vicki Soto’s younger sister Jillian and shoved a photograph in her face, according to the Connecticut Post. He claimed the Sandy Hook shooting never happened and Vicki Soto never existed, police said.

He attempted to flee, but was captured after a foot chase by police.

Attorney James Hardy II said that no one was injured in the incident and that he felt it was his duty to protect everyone’s rights with the right information.

Mills is seeking accelerated rehabilitation, which would result in the breach of peace charge against him being dismissed once he completes the program. Assistant State’s Attorney Craig Nowak objected to Mills getting the program.

He was previously arrested for sneaking into the MetLife Stadium media tent and interrupting a live press conference with talk about 9/11 conspiracies.

Mills previously defended his actions to the Daily News saying he was acting as a reporter and was investigating a popular conspiracy theory. He told the News he intentionally sought out Jillian Soto to ask whether a family portrait of the Soto siblings sitting on seaside rocks in Stratford during happier times was altered.

The hearing was continued to Jan. 28 because no representatives from the Soto family appeared in court.
