Man Accused Of Trespassing, Causing Disturbance At Newtown Library: Police

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown man was arrested after police said he trespassed and caused a disturbance at the C.H. Booth Library before resisting officers who located him nearby.

Newtown police responded to the library at 25 Main St. around 11 p.m. Aug. 13 for a report of a man trespassing and causing a disturbance on library property, according to police.

While officers were responding, they were told the man had left on foot and was last seen walking on West Street toward Castle Hill Road.

Officers located the man walking along Castle Hill Road and detained him, police said. According to the police report, he disobeyed officers' instructions and physically resisted their efforts to detain him.

The man was charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree criminal trespass and interfering with an officer.

He was released on a written promise to appear and is scheduled to appear Aug. 25 in Danbury Superior Court, according to police.
