Missing Newtown Elderly Gentleman Has Been Found Alive
Newtown Police and search teams found the missing elderly man Tuesday at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Newtown Police Lt. Christopher Van Ghele said at around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday they found the missing elderly gentleman “within the last few minutes.”
Martin Allen, 73, was found on Head O’ Meadow Road, according to Van Ghele. Police, CERT Teams, helicopters and drones searched last night and all day today to find the man who suffers from dementia.
Van Ghele said, “ambulance crews are with him right now and they’re assessing his condition.”

Search teams worked hard to cover the areas of where Allen was last seen Monday morning at around 8:30 a.m., near Hattertown Road and Eden Hill Road.
“We were following up on every kind of lead you can imagine,” Van Ghele told Patch.

The Newtown Police said on their Facebook page:
“Great news, Martin Allen was found this afternoon safely in a corn field in the area of Route 302. Residents who called yesterday giving us a starting point helped us find this endangered individual.”

Assistant Fire Chief Joe Masso told Patch Tuesday that Dodgintown Fire Department also assisted in the search and rescue of Martin Allen. They were called in at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday evening by Newtown Police Chief Kehoe and helped search the areas of Rte. 302, Scudder Road, Head O’ Meadow and every road in the area, according to Masso.
“Upon arrival we were briefed by Chief Kehoe and began a sweep of the area. We utilized thermal imaging devices that can detect heat through thick brush,” Masso said.
Town Highway workers and Town of Newtown crews also assisted in the search, according to Masso.
