NewArts Reminder About Giving Tuesday and Year End Donations
NewArts (12.14 Foundation) was formed following the tragedy of December 14, 2012 at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

Season’s Greetings to you and your family!
NewArts (12.14 Foundation) was formed following the tragedy of December 14, 2012 at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. We developed a comprehensive program to equip children with life skills to help them rise above and go beyond their most difficult challenges. We focus on building confidence, developing character strengths and practicing emotional intelligence. As we approach 2017, I would like to update you on the progress we at NewArts have made during our fourth year of operation. Below are the highlights of our 2016 activities and achievements:

- Full Feature Documentary – In the summer of 2014, we created an original Shakespeare musical "A ROCKIN' Midsummer Night's Dream", with both local and Broadway talent. The Documentary Group followed us that summer; and with co-producers Vulcan Inc. and Participant Media, the resulting film "Midsummer In Newtown" was chosen for the prestigious Spotlight Selection in the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
- Summer 2016 – The Wizard of Oz and the regional premiere of School of Rock. This past summer we took on one of the most beloved classics and one of Broadway’s newest sensations. The Wizard of Ozinvolved more than 100 children playing various roles including Munchkins, Winkies, Flying Monkeys, Poppies and Crows in addition to the well-known leads. The full production was replete with magic, fire, flying and a real Toto! We were one of the first organizations to produce Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock, which is still running on Broadway. This production combined a high energy performance by our kids as students and teachers, with incredible choreography and fist-pumping rock and roll. Just like Broadway, our band was comprised of real middle-schoolers playing real instruments on stage.
- Winter 2016 We are thrilled to offer for the first time a winter program, and this one is not your ordinary community project. NewArts acquired the amazing production that has been running at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ for the past 16 years. It’s our most ambitious production yet with Broadway-level sets, a thoughtful script adaptation and professional NYC actors working alongside our community children and adults. NewArts has teamed up with Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, CT for this production, and features Broadway’s own Jimmy Ludwig as Ebenezer Scrooge.
- A.R.C. (Aspire, Reach, Create) Players Program. Leaders from the Yale University School of Management and Inspire Corps. continue to deliver a complementary program to run in tandem with our performing arts productions. A.R.C focuses on giving students new awareness and skills in the arena of “character and leadership” development.
