Newtown-based NSSF Outspends NRA Lobbying

The group spent more than $3.5 million in 2014.

Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation is on pace to outspend the National Rifle Association on lobbying efforts for the second year in a row.

NSSF’s lobbying budget was $810,000 in 2012, the year of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, according to the News-Times.

It increased its lobbying budget to $2.95 million in 2013 and $3.53 million in 2014. The NRA spent $3.14 million in 2012, $3.51 million in 2013 and $3.48 million in 2014.

So far the NSSF has spent $2.91 million this year and the NRA has spent $2.755 million.
