Person Arrested After Failing to Stop

Police arrested a Newtown woman after she allegedly failed to stop for an officer directing traffic.

Police were directing traffic on South Main Street on Sept. 2 when Luis Cepeda, 27, failed to stop.

She was charged with one count of failure to obey the signal of an officer, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

Illegal Dumping

Police received a complaint of illegal dumping on Winters Ridge Road on Aug. 27.

Police found a large pile of used roofing materials and other items on the roadside.

There was a similar report near Farm Field Ridge and Black Bridge Road.

Other Arrests

Ricardo Martinez, 47, of Bridgeport was charged with operating a vehicle without a valid license and operating under suspension on Sept. 5.

Robert Maccloy, 54, was arrested after police responded to a dispute on Washington Avenue on Sept. 10. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Missing Key Found

A car key with a blue Healey key chain attached was found in front of Dr. Baum’s driveway on Church Hill Road Sept. 13. The item is at the police department waiting for the rightful owner.
