Newtown Candidate Profile: David Ruhs For P&Z Alternate

NEWTOWN, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Newtown and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Newtown Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

David Ruhs is running for Planning and Zoning Alternate as a Republican.

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The increased development in town has raised awareness of residents, so decisions made by the board have a greater impact to our neighborhoods. Being raised here in town, I understand the significance of keeping the home town feel in tact.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have had past experience on the P&Z board and have lived in town for past 48 years, so I want to have a voice on the development of the town and the aesthetics of new construction to keep in line with our history

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My past experience on the P&Z board and my understanding of the issues facing the town.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am very passionate and committed to anything I put my mind to, I would love to continue my service to the town that I grew up in and shared so many memories with.
