Twenty-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed his mother Nancy in the home before driving to Sandy Hook elementary School where he shot and killed 20 students and six educators.
A number of neighbors wrote to the council that seeing the house was a terrible reminder of the unspeakable evil that occurred on Dec. 14, 2012, according to the Hartford Courant.
The property was acquired by the Town of Newtown for no cost, according to NBC. It was given to the town by Hudson Savings Bank.
The property belonged to Ryan Lanza, Nancy Lanza’s other son. He authorized the house to be sold by an attorney.
