Newtown Dispatcher Sentenced for Steroid Ring Dealings

The dispatcher was accused of buying steroids from former Newtown Police Sgt. Steven Santucci.

A former Newtown Police dispatcher was sentenced to two years of probation for his role in a steroid manufacturing and distributing ring.

Jason Chickos, 46, of Bridgeport was accused of being part of a steroid ring headed by Newtown Police Sgt. Steven Santucci. Steroids ingredients were shipped in from China and were manufactured for wholesale. Some other members of the conspiracy are charged with distribution prescription pills and cocaine.

Chickos was also ordered to perform 120 hours of community service and pay a $1,000 fine.

Chickos was accused of buying steroids from Santucci and selling them to others. Chickos pleaded guilty in October to one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids.

Fellow conspiracy member Alex Kenyhercz, 29, of Ansonia recently pleaded guilty as well.
