Newtown to Hold Anti-Gun Violence Rally and Walk
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont;, Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Chris Murphy are all expected to attend.
NEWTOWN, CT — The fifth annual Newtown #WearOrange Walk and Rally will take place on Sunday, June 2, to coincide with National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The rally will be held It will be held at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. The walk will immediately follow, and proceed to Mile High Road and back to the school.
Politicians scheduled to speak on Sunday include Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont;, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Chris Murphy and First Selectman Dan Rosenthal.

Anti-gun violence advocates expected to take to the podium include Mike Song, who lost a 15-year-old son in an unintentional shooting; Natalie Barden, of the Junior Newtown Action Alliance; Jeremy Stein, Connecticut Against Gun Violence; and Tara Donnelly Gotlieb and Riley Deloughy, Moms Demand Action.
Orange -- the color traditionally worn by hunters to protect themselves -- was chosen as the color of the movement by friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago high school student killed by gunfire. She would have been 22 on June 2, 2019.
