Newtown PD to Raise Funds for Special Olympics

NEWTOWN, CT -- Instead of a summons, the police at the Market Place Kitchen & Bar at The Village at Lexington Gardens may be serving you a slice of cherry pie or an order of fries on Wednesday May 23. That's when the Newtown PD will be participating in the "Tip-A-Cop" fund raising event to benefit the Special Olympics of Connecticut.

One hundred percent of the money raised through tips given to police at the event at Market Place will be donated to the Special Olympics. It's part of the the run-up to the local leg of the June 8 Law Enforcement Torch Run on a course through Newtown.

Market Place is located at 32 Church Hill Road. The "Tip-A-Cop" festivities will run 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
