Newtown Police Blotter Feb. 14-16

NEWTOWN, CT — Below are recent crash and arrest reports from Newtown Police. Those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Crashes With Hospitalizations

• Two car occupants were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash near South Main Street and Buttonshop Road Feb. 14. The operator and passenger of one vehicle were taken to the hospital for chest pain. The same operator was issued an infraction for failure to yield right of way when making a left turn.
• A car operator and passenger were sent to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Hattertown Road Feb. 14. A vehicle traveling northbound went over the center of the roadway and struck a southbound vehicle.
• A single-car crash on Berkshire Road Feb. 16 is being investigated. The operator’s car went off the roadway and struck a mailbox and stone wall. The operator was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Arrests

• Ramon Bonaparte, 34, of Bridgeport was charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane after a motor vehicle stop Feb. 15 in the area of Edmund Town Hall.
• Ryan Kelly, 31, of New Milford was charged Feb. 16 with DUI, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, operating without insurance and operating under suspension.
